Blog: Free Public IP Address Service

Ever needed the user's IP but didn't want to write backend-scripts or didn't have access to it, because a reverse proxy returned a wrong address? (Well, look at that, I've just got the "perfect" solution for you.)

We now offer our IP-Service ip.timedin.net.

You can get the preferred address by the client (ip.timedin.net), only the IPV4 (ip4.timedin.net) or only the IPV6 (ip6.timedin.net). Also, it's possible to get both addresses with just one request (technically there are still two request, but you only need to send a request to one URL), using the Keyword (ip.timedin.net?both).

Usage

There are different methods to use it in your script.

• Use a fetch or XMLHTTPRequest to the plain or the JSON format (ip.timedin.net?format=json)
  • (We allow requests from every origin, but you may need to update your CSP-Headers to allow Cross-Origin requests.)
• Include the JavaScript file with function callback (ip.timedin.net?format=js), then create the function or .
  • (This is often easier to implement because script-include has few restrictions and security policies, although you can't live-update as easy as in the first option.)
